Once the temporary Red Cross housing money runs out, renters are on their own. Insurance experts say renter's insurance is probably not as expensive as one would think.
"For the cost of two pizzas a month, they can get renters insurance," Wes Harris with State Farm Insurance said. "Most people think apartment complexes provide coverage for their possessions and they don't need renters insurance."
Harris says insurance can also protect the apartment owner because the policy provides liability protection.
